You can store additional organisation specific information about your users, such as department or job role in addition to the standard information. This is achieved by custom user data.

Custom user data is simply additional attributes that user managers can add to any of your users. Attributes are input fields with a title label. For example, you could add the attributes such as Department, Manager and Region to a user, which would look like the following:

Editing the attribute values is simple:

  1. Find the user in the Users List.
  2. Select the user by clicking on their name.
  3. Update the details on the Additional Details tab.
  4. Click Save.

Users must have the Manage Users permissions in order to create and manage User Attributes.

Create new attributes

You can create additional custom attributes for your channels in the Settings > Custom Attributes page.

You can create the following types of attributes:

  • Single Text: This type allows you to create a custom attribute where users can input a single line of text. It's ideal for capturing brief, concise information like a customer's name or phone number.
  • Multiline Text: Multiline text attributes enable users to enter longer pieces of text, such as comments, feedback, or detailed descriptions. It's great for gathering more extensive information.
  • Date/Time: Date/Time attributes are used to capture specific dates. They are handy for recording events, deadlines, or any other time-sensitive data.
  • Select Box: Select box attributes allow you to create a dropdown menu with predefined options. Users can select one option from the list. This is useful for categorizing or providing choices for specific information.

To create a new attribute, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Heed Admin Portal.
  2. Navigate to Settings > Custom Attributes.
  3. Click Create Attribute.
  4. In the Create Attribute modal, ensure that User is selected in the type dropdown box.

  5. Next, enter a label for your attribute and choose the type.
  6. Once you have entered all the values, click Save.
