Overview
Channels can be linked together so that you can automatically distribute messages to multiple channels at once.
Below is an example of an Inbound Link as B and C are receiving messages from channel A.
Let's say you have channels A, B, C and D. If you create a link on channels B and C to channel A, then whenever channel A is selected as a recipient, the sender will be prompted to include channel B and C as recipients as well:
Adding B or C as a recipient will not prompt you to include channel A in this example, to achieve that an inbound link would need to be added on channel A from B and C.
It's important to note that channel links will only cause prompts down one link level. What does this mean? Going back to our example, let's say we now add an inbound link on D from channel C.
If we then choose channel A as a recipient it will still only prompt channel B and C, not channel D. In order for D to be prompted to the sender, it would also have to have an inbound link from channel A. Even if you select channel A, and accept the prompt to include channel C as a link, channel D would not be included, and no prompt would show to include it.
In order for channel D to be added as a link from channel C, channel C would need to be explicitly added as a recipient, and not as a link from channel A.
Viewing a Channel's Links
You can view both the inbound and the outbound links on a channel by selecting the channel within the Channels Page, and choosing the Links Tab.
Changing Channel Links
You can only modify the inbound links on a single channel at one time. The links can only be edited by channel admins or the channel creator. Please contact your administrator if your account does not have the required access.
- Select the channel that you wish to change the inbound links in the Channels Page.
- Select the Links tab on the channel details view.
- Click the Modify Links button.
- From within the Modify Links modal, search for the channels that you would like to add as an inbound link to your channel. Once you have found your required channels, select the tick box to the left of the channel. Continue this until you have found all of the channels that you wish to add as a link.
- Existing links will already be selected within the list, if you would like to remove these links then simply un-tick them.
- Once you have selected all your required channels, click Update.
- The selected channels will then appear in the Inbound Links list.
