Integration Connections

Modified on Tue, 30 Jan, 2024 at 3:18 PM

An Integration Connection serves as a linkage between Heed and a third-party application, enabling seamless integration. This connection grants the third-party application access to the Heed API and encompasses all the essential connection particulars. Depending on the specific application, the integration process may involve either the execution of a custom script or simply configuring certain settings.

For each connection you establish, a dedicated help page is available, offering comprehensive connection details and download links for any required scripts.

Creating a Connection

To create a new connection, follow these steps.

  1. Navigate to the Integration Connections page at Settings > Integration Connections.
  2. Click Create Connection.
  3. Enter a name for your connection in the Create Connection modal.

  4. Then, select the integration application from the application dropdown.

  5. Once completed, click Create.

All application connections authenticate with the Heed server via an API token and each app connection has its own unique token. You can revoke and regenerate a connections API token from the connections detail page.

Connecting with the application

Once you have created the integration connection, you will need to setup the external application to publish the data to Heed. Each app is setup differently; but if you click on the edit pencil next to the new connection, it will open the connections setup page which will contain the steps and any downloads for setting up the integration. Below is an example of Splunk:

Using a Connection

Now that you have setup your connection we are ready to start working with the integration. To utilise the connection we need to create one or more workflows.

  1. Navigate to the app where you would like to utilise the connection.
  2. Click on the Workflows menu item.
  3. Create a new workflow by clicking on Create Workflow.
  4. In the Create Workflow modal you should now see your application, for example ServiceNow.

Enter a name for your workflow and then select your application. In the Select a connection drop down, choose your connection.

  5. Once you have made your selections, click Create. You now have a workflow which is ready process data form your application.
